Board Of Directors

SAPTA intends to expand its services in and beyond Kenya and generate additional funding for a range of exciting new initiatives, including: inpatient/demonstration farm for slum and rural alcoholics and drug addicts; social business enterprises supporting recovering addicts; distance addiction counseling learning; and establishing a hotline for those suffering from addictions or affected by it.
To this end, SAPTA has hired leaders and professional men and women who serve SAPTA as Board Members. They are:

  • committed to our mission, objectives and values;
  • in good standing in their communities;
  • with current or recent experience in corporate management, legal activism, financial management or banking;
  • understand the nature of substance and chemical abuse and are moved to dedicate their time and energy to addressing these personal issues and related societal impact, such as: gender violence, child abuse, HIV/AIDS and TB, and criminal activity;
  • can contribute to our fundraising by acting as an ambassador and networker for SAPTA, providing good stewardship of our resources and by direct involvement in fundraising activities; and
  • Most importantly, individuals who have a personal passion for this area, possibly through the negative effects of addiction on family members, friends or colleagues and the positive effects of treatment.

Dr. Johnson T. Mutiso

johnson-mutisoM.A. Clinical Psychology (Wheaton USA) M. Med. Psychiatry (UoN); MB ChB (UoN)-A specialist psychiatrist, psychotherapist and consultant for numerous organizations, Dr. Mutiso has a vast experience having served in several boards in the past, such as Kenya Board of Mental Health Ministry of Medical Services as a member; Amani Counselling Centre and Training Institute Governing Body as a secretary; and Ministry of Healing and Biblical Counselling as a chairman. He has several publications such as Psychological effects and impact, in Beyond the Scars: A Medical History of the 1998 Nairobi bombing of the American Embassy published by the Africa Medical Research Foundation in 2006, among others. He has provided exemplary leadership in the SAPTA Board of Trustee as the treasurer and is now the SAPTA NGO Board chairman.

Mrs. Eunice N. Waithaka

eunice-waithakaPhD [ongoing] (American World Uni.), PGD Health Systems Management (Israel), MA Community Health & Dev. (Kisumu), PGD Couns. Psy. (Ireland), B.A. Ed. (USA) - Mrs. Waithaka’s experience with community health and development-related program spans over ten years. She is also an author of several publications and has supervised researches such as one titled Assessing Greater involvement of people living with HIV in Nairobi province, Kenya in 2009.   She is currently a Program Officer with Network of African People Living with HIV in Eastern Africa Region (Nap + Ear). Her niche is in identifying capacity building initiatives, assisting  the development process  of capacity development plans of country networks in line with existing plans ,ensuring  up-to-date strategic information is delivered to country networks from relevant meetings, conferences, studies and other key processes on issues related to HIV and AIDS.

Ms. Elizabeth C. A. Omolo

elizabeth-omoloPGD Corporate Governance (KCA), B.A Governance & Sociology (UoN), International Bankers Course (UK) - She is a former executive director of Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) in the period April 2006 until June 2008, where she headed the Project Steering Committee to begin a Masters Degree program in Banking & Finance upon successfully negotiating a $1.5 million grant from the African Capacity Building Foundation. She is well versed in organizational management with a specific bias to effective corporate governance and has demonstrated abilities to deliver organizational excellence from her accumulated experiences in high profile operational directions. She is also a fellow of the Kenya Institute of Bankers.

Mr. Ehsan H. Malik

ehsan-malikChartered Secretary, ICSA (UK) Member ICPSK, Institute Fellowship Award 2008-Mr. Malik has worked as a Financial Controller/Consultant for non-religious, non-political and non-profitable charitable organizations, his duties involving a lot of liaison work with international organizations. His work as a Finance and Administration Manager with IBM World Trade Corporation between 1963 and 1976 covered a vast area in Africa including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia and Sudan. He has overseen the Muthurwa Orphanage that houses about 150 destitute children. He was an observer of the Kenyan General Elections in the years 1997, 2002 and 2007.
